Sand Barrens Golf Club is a 27 hole golf course located in Swainton, New Jersey, close to all Jersey Shore locations. The three separate nine hole course was designed by one of the finest golf design firms, Hurdzan/Fry. The course opened in 1988 and was meant to be a parkland course until sand was discovered under the soil surface. Now sand is the main feature as there is 35 acres of sandy scrub waste areas.
The Sand Barrens is a challenging course but is for all skill level golfers with five sets of tees. Challenges on the course include tree lined fairways, vast scrub bunkers, and massive rolling greens. Strategy is definitely needed.
